I have used these outers for years, incredibly cheap and can last ages if you look after them
I've tried pliers, diagonal cutters and cable cutters on this housing, and it is almost impossible to cut it cleanly - the steel strands are just too tough. Perhaps it'd make for a decent derailleur housing if you happen to have a Dremel handy, or a set of bolt cutters, but with hand tools it's impossible to tell.
The only tool to use is a specific cable and housing cutting tool as other tools will crush the wire strands. This will ensure good results and a neat finish.
Once cut, you'll need to open the internal housing using a metal pick or a very narrow nail to widen the internal sheath.
There are a few decent films on youtube talking about this topic.
If you need your current outers cut to length, bring in your old ones which our stores workshop can use as a guide to cut your new outers to the correct length.

J'étais prêt à racheter dérailleur, chaine, cassettes, car le dérailleur arrière faisait n'importe quoi malgré plusieurs réglages. Une prise de tête. Suite à un conseil de changer uniquement les gaines et les câbles de dérailleurs, j'ai acheté ce produit. Depuis les vitesses passent comme si les dérailleurs étaient nouveaux. C'est le jour et la nuit. Il est vrai que les gaines d'origine BTWIN étaient rouillés et qu'il n'y a pas comme dans les gaines Shimano une protection supplémentaire à l'intérieur de cette gaine. Merci à Décathlon de continuer proposer ce produit. Car apparemment il n'est plus disponible.
