Fits and feels like you aren't wearing anything

I don't have to carry much but when running early I wear extra layers. Gloves, buffs, base layer and a jacket/waterproof. Add in 500ml of fluids, phone and keys. Nothing moves around and no chaffing

Perfect for fell races

I bought this gilet for fell racing (having previously used Decathlon sacks for mountain marathons). I have now used it in competition (17.5 mile fell race) and I'm delighted with it. I also bought the 5L hydration bag, as I wasn't sure which I'd prefer. I'll probably be sending that back, as this gilet is just perfect. The size guide seems accurate. There's not much adjustment left in the straps but this positions the water bottle pouches nicely and the side pockets out of the way so they don't interfere with running. I bought the suggested 500ml flexible water bottles. I had read a review that said they don't fit. They fit perfectly and it's easy to drink from them without taking them out of the pockets. Taking them out to refill in a hurry would be a bit of a faff. I could (just) fit in everything I needed for a winter race (waterproof trousers, jacket, survival bag, compass, phone, 2 gels, 2 bars, hat and gloves) and the gilet was still comfortable with all this in there. Based on previous sacks from Decathlon, I'm expecting it to last well. There's a two year guarantee I think.

500ml bottles don't fit properly

A little disappointed in this item. It is quite comfortable although it is small. The biggest complaint is the two front bottle pouches which are labelled as 500ml are too small in length. The 500ml soft flask sticks out by about 4-5 inches. It is quite annoying and as the bottles empty it ends up just flopping around everywhere. I bought this rather than a more expensive Solomon or Harrier, however I do regret this purchase unfortunately.

too small / small pockers

had the m/l and returned for a large and returned to find the large out of stock. left with an xtra large. its still too small around the chest and the 250ml bottles i have seem too tight in the pockets. its manageable with the bottom strap left unstrapped - but wouldnt recommend this.

Way too small

As some other people mentioned, this came up really small. I'm a slim 5'9'' and the M/L was too small which seems crazy. Also, you can't really fit a 500 ml soft flask in the pocket labelled "500 ml soft flask". A 250 would probably fit better, especially if you want to be able to take it out on the move. Other than that it seems pretty well made.

Trail running vest 5L

Great running vest for short runs when all you need is a waterproof, keys, soft flask and possibly a phone. Plenty of adjustability and well made. Excellent value compared to other trail running brand vests of similar size and spec.

Sizes are smaller so it’s a bit tight

Nice in theory, not so much in action

I wanted a vest which could take the bare essentials, along with two soft flasks. This looked like it had everything but with two bottles I found it moved around far too much. Ended up carrying one of my bottles (500ml as it is advertised as accommodating). The vest is very comfortable without anything in and the elasticity may be what caused the issues for me. Can't use for the purpose intended.

Despite being well within the measurements this is way too small. I came online to look at a return, and as well as the postage I have paid, I am also responsible for paying the return costs. This is not fair considering the error in the sizing. Will not be purchasing from Decathlon again.

Great vest

I love the close fit of this vest. Lots of pockets some of which have zips which is great. I will be using these for energy bars, lightweight jacket, water, phone and cash. It has great little adjustments straps making it so easy to alter if you layer up. I am really looking forward to using this vest. I just need to get the soft water bottles to go with it.

Really good, adjustable, snug, great!

This fits really well, no jiggle. Phone in the front, keys in the side and waterproof on the back!

This is my first ever trail vest and I’m so impressed with it. Hardly noticed it on - and holds enough water and bits for a commute or long run. Does get a little warm on a hot day but can’t be helped! Defo recommend

Definite Double Thumbs Up!

I found the reviews on this site particularly useful when helping me to decide whether to buy this or not and so thought I’d add my own. This is my first foray into the world of running vests. I’ve been upping my distances and so decided it was time to carry a few bits with me but mainly just water, maybe a gel and for once my phone. Doing a bit of research suggested around the 5 litre size was what was needed. Not using one before and not entirely convinced I would get on with one, the thought of spending around the £100 mark wasn’t working for me. Nor was any of the really cheap vests on offer on eBay. Thankfully I stumbled across this one, which was somewhere in the middle-ish (or rather towards the lower end of the price range). There are a couple of common themes that are mentioned in the reviews, namely the general size and phone pocket so I’ll address these first. Every t-shirt I own is a size Large and so I believed I would be somewhere between the M/L and XL size. The free returns policy meant I could order both to see which one actually fitted and I can definitely confirm that this vest really is on the small side. There was no way the M/L was going to fit. The XL, however, fitted perfectly. This is great for me but for anybody larger (who maybe is actually an XL) they are going to struggle with it. As an aside, I find it odd that this is the biggest size available. The phone pocket is… snug. My Samsung Galaxy S8+ just about fits in with it zipped up but with a water bottle on top it all gets a bit tight, stretched and heavy. You can run with it but I couldn’t fill a 500ml bottle right up and this is definitely the bottle that gets drank first. Another reviewer mentioned that the fastening clips are small and yes, they are. Not quite sure why they made them so small. They work but are a bit fiddly and my concern is their durability over time, which I guess time will tell. As I said, this is my first running vest and I didn’t really want to spend too much money. I’ve ran with it a few times and initially I was concerned about it feeling weird, moving around and rubbing but after a few outings and my longest run of 14 miles, my worries were proved unfounded. From previously running with just a t-shirt, it is a bit different and takes a bit of getting used to but I was pleasantly surprised how quickly I did get used to it and definitely don’t find it onerous to wear. Right now I’m not sure why you would want to spend anymore money on one but I’m glad I didn’t spend less as I don’t believe making the transition to wearing one would have been this easy. It’s not perfect. The straps and clips could do with being a bigger at least to give the impression of a more robust vest. The phone pocket size and position relative to the bottle holder needs reviewing and I’d like at least one more zipped pocket. All said and done and with everything considered, I am very happy with it and would definitely recommend it.

I bought this wanting it to help carry phone, gels and water for marathon training. The M/L size is very small. I'm 6' medium build and couldn't get it across my chest. I exchanged it for the 'XL' version and it fitted but the bottom strap was uncomfortably tight across my stomach - again no 6 pack but nowt heavy! I found the pouch to acept the water bladder (500ml) was really tight to try and get in to. The storage on it however is excellent the phone pocket very secure with a good zip. The price (as always with Decathlon) is outstanding! But ultimately not suitable for me, so i will be returning it again for a refund/ credit.
